The Hero:

David & Goliath is a full-service independent creative agency with offices in Los Angeles, London, and Frankfurt. They pride themselves on finding creative communication solutions that solve the toughest of business challenges and specialize in expertly crafting global TV and digital campaigns.

The client list at the 11-year-old shop includes universally recognized brands such as Kia Motors, Universal Studios, Carl's Jr, and the California Lottery. You know that fantastic KIA commercial with the character from Yo Gabba Gabba and his stuffed toy friends going out on the town in a KIA Sorrento? Yeah, they did that!

The Challenge:

Armando Potter is a strategic planner at David & Goliath who recently faced the following challenge when pitching a prospective client. "We needed positioning statements to pitch how we were planning to communicate their brand to the public. We didn't have the time or the money to actually go out and put people together in a room for a focus group because we needed the statements within a week."

The Solution:

Using a combination of Zoomerang Online Surveys and Zoomerang Sample, David & Goliath took matters into their own hands.

Potter explains, "With Zoomerang, we basically conducted an online focus group where we tested three different positioning statements for the client. We were hoping one would pop out as stronger than the other two in respondent's minds. Using Zoomerang Online Surveys, we asked people's opinions on what they thought of each statement and if it changed their perception of the client."

Potter sent the survey out to a targeted sample of 500-600 survey takers. The sample was specific to the demographics and attributes requested, and because the online panel is certified by MarketTools TrueSample, they could be confident in the quality of their data.

The Results:

"It worked," says Potter. "The statement that got the most positive response was actually the one we wanted to recommend in the first place. Now we had the data to back it up."

"We were surprised at how fast the entire process was turned around. We created the survey ourselves using Zoomerang's online tool. It was easy and straightforward. I just jumped on and figured it out right away."

The Future:

As for the future, Potter tells us, "Zoomerang Online Surveys will definitely be used again to help us pitch in the future."
