Learning from Leaders: a lecture series Andrew J PiniD.S.M.D. of Corporate Real Estate & DevelopmentBlue Cross/Blue Shield-IllinoisTHE BLUE CROSS/ BLUE SHIELD TOWER CHICAGO, IL The Blue Cross/Blue Shield building was originally designed to allow for many more floors to be built later as market conditions warrant. Health Care Service built it in 1997 at a cost of $233 million. In order to accommodate BCBS’s continued growth and expansion needs, the 300 E. Randolph Vertical Completion project consists of a 24 floor structural steel framed addition to the existing 30 story structure. The curtain wall enclosure of the expansion will match the existing curtain wall system installed over ten years ago. Included in the addition are sixteen new elevators, four escalators, two floors of food service and a new conference center on the 30th floor. Once completed (planned for 2010) the "new" tower will reach its designed height of 57 stories and will be the first project in Chicago to build up. Date:April 17, 2008 Time:5:30-7:00pm Location:MIT Campus3-270
