Environmental RTK Public Participation

OMB Watch is reaching out to individuals and organizations around the country that work to protect environmental and public health in order to learn about their information needs. We're hoping to discover what kinds of problems you are encountering while trying to access and use government information and tools. We also would like to hear your recommendations for policies to address these issues.

Some examples of environmental information issues include:

a) How can we access data on the emissions of greenhouse gases from a particular manufacturing plant?

b) How can we access data on the impacts to endangered species that might result from the construction of a new housing development?

c) How can a homeowner learn about the potential health impacts to her family from pesticide spraying in her community?

d) How much groundwater is available in an aquifer and can it support existing agricultural needs?

e) What emergency plans are needed to protect the neighborhood in the case of an accident at the chemical plant down the street?

This brief survey will help inform our recommendations for the Obama administration and Congress, and should take no more than 10 to 15 minutes of your time.  We want to be sure we include public input when defining the best means by which to improve public access to environmental information.
