Thank you for taking the time to complete our Baja California Sur (B.C.S.) surf valuation and community participation survey. You must be at least 18 years of age, and have surfed in B.C.S. in the last 365 days to participate. If you were interviewed by us in person at the beach in B.C.S. please do not take this survey. If you have a favorite secret spot where you surf in B.C.S., please don't tell us about it!
This unique study will help us to better understand the social, environmental, and economic contributions of the surfing community to the Mexican state of B.C.S. in order to be better represented when proposed coastal development projects threaten marine and coastal ecosystems, and our favorite surf breaks. Additionally, this study will help us to identify and propose to the Mexican state and federal governmental agencies a regional or national surfing reserve worthy of protection in B.C.S. This research is currently supported by a coalition of environmental organizations and educational institutions, including: Surfers Without Borders; WiLDCOAST; ProPeninsula and The Ocean Foundation; Save the Waves Coalition; Ocean Revolution; and EcoEducadores Verde y Azul. If your organization would like to sign-on to this study and host a web link to our survey, please contact Dr. A.J. Schneller at aschneller@fieldstudies.org
