Naming of the Wellness Center at ACHS

Questions marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.

An application has been submitted to name the wellness center at Adams City High School the Lois M. Kimmes Wellness Center.  Please  take a moment and read about Lois M. Kimmes and her involvement with the wellness center and then vote on whether you think the wellness center should be named after her.

Lois’ involvement in the Commerce City community spans decades.  Over the years Lois volunteered her time and talents with the South Adams Women’s Association, Commerce City Business & Professional Association and Community Enterprise.  She has served on various Adams 14 committees including the Facilities Naming Committee and DAAC for which she served six years.   Her most important and impactful service came from her service to  Community Health Services (CHS) as a Board of Director for 13 years, nine of which she served as the President.  During her time on the board she also served on the Executive and Fundraising Committees.  Lois was an active member of the board clear up until she passed away.

The mission of CHS is to improve the health and well-being of infants, children and youth.  CHS has partnered with Adams 14 for over 30 years to provide school-based health care and school nursing centers.  Because of Lois’ passion to keep children healthy and in school, she became involved with CHS in 1997.  Lois was CHS Board President in August of 2009 when the new wellness center at ACHS was opened.  She was extremely proud to be a part of making a center like this available to our students.

The blessing and support of Lois’ family, friends, former colleagues, community members, local businesses and community organizations have all been gathered for purpose of submitting this request and feel this would be the perfect way to honor Lois’ legacy of advocating for the children of our community.
