* As mentioned previously, the State of Colorado is continuing to cut funding to K-12 Education. Weld County School District RE-1 is investigating a Labor Day to Memorial Day calendar as one possible way to save money. (Please see web page for proposed "Labor Day/Memorial Day Calendar") This could potentially save the school district approximately $30,000 to $50,000. A Labor Day to Memorial Day calendar would mean a longer school day (8:05 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.) in order to meet the state requirement of 1080 hours for student/teacher contact. The school year would start September 4th and end May 23rd. Would you be in favor of a Labor Day to Memorial Day calendar?
