Greg Vlahos, Analytic Vision : "Tips For Integrating Hyperion Planning/Essbase in OBIEE"

Oracle has made great strides to enable integration of their Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) products into OBIEE to offer an enterprise reporting solution that works across all data sources.  This session focuses on lessons learned and 'how to' implementation tips that Analytic Vision has learned while integrating Essbase and Hyperion Planning into several of our client's OBIEE environments.  These tips will cover the basics of simply reporting over a standalone EPM source, integrating the underlying transactional data to create a seamless drill through capability that is not using linked navigation, and then we will show how we successfully integrated one of our client's Hyperion Planning applications with a relational FTE payroll star schema to create a federated subject area with a unified set of metrics coming from the different data sources.  We will also introduce Oracle's latest OBI Application solution over Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) referred to as Oracle Financial Management Analysis (OFMA).  Throughout this presentation we will switch into a demonstration environment to show some of the techniques being discussed.

Tim Vlamis, Vlamis Software Solutions : "Data Visualization in Oracle BI 11g"

"As BI and EPM systems continue to grow in scope and importance throughout corporations and organizations of all sizes, the need for superior data visualization skills and knowledge has never been more urgent. You’ll learn when and how to use bar charts, pie charts, line charts, bubble charts, and maps. You’ll learn how and when to incorporate motion into your management dashboards, and how to avoid the ten most common errors of uninformed BI systems designers. We’ll cover the latest in Oracle BI tools including OBIEE 11g, including new visualizations in OBIEE 11.1.1.6. See specific examples of how OBIEE 11g enables new types of data visualizations including sliders, VCR controls, zoomable graphs, maps, and dynamic prompts in 11.1.1.6. Join BI mavens Dan Vlamis and Tim Vlamis for an entertaining session filled with brotherly banter on how to strengthen your BI and EPM presentations, avoid the big mistakes that undermine the acceptance of analytical systems and visualizations, and leverage the tremendous power of Oracle BI and EPM toolsets."

Christian Screen, ArtofBI.com : "Oracle BI/EPM 3rd Party Tools - After Market Products"

This presentation takes an impartial look at Oracle BI/EPM products and the after market or 3rd Party Vendor tools created to enhance the OEM product.  Over the last several years several organizations (mainly Oracle Partners) have developed service products using some very clever technology solutions enabling the Oracle BI/EPM tools to work better. This presentation aims to canonize both the products and the companies for their innovation as well as to bring visibility. A hint will be made towards the need for a marketplace.  Several boutique firms and large organizations will be highlighted.  Companies highlighted are RittmanMead and BI Consulting Group for their introspective products, KPI Partners and Accenture for their accelerator products, AppliedOLAP for their work on Essbase products, and more.  Finally the presentation will take a look into the future of what private and open source solutions can bring to the Oracle BI/EPM space to enable a larger community that benefits everyone.

Jean-Pierre Dijcks, Oracle Corporation : "Big Data Architecture Deep Dive"

"Big data is an architecture topic as well as a lot of buzz. The goal of this session is to share a reference-architecture for big data projects. This reference architecture is where the rubber meets the road in an implementation around big data.

In this session we will whiteboard (no PPT):

•An overall architecture for a big data ecosystem, consisting of solutions like the RDBMS, Hadoop and BI tools

•Integration points between these tools and systems and a brief look at their strengths and weaknesses and how to use the best of all worlds in your architecture

•How to effectively leverage analytical sandboxes for data discovery and agile development of data driven solutions

At the end of this session you will understand the reference-architecture and have the tools to implement this architecture at your company."

Chet Justice, ORACLENERD.COM : "TheDailyWTF - OBIEE Edition"

"Over the last seven years I have been reading The Daily WTF, Curious Perversions in Information Technology. The writing is excellent and the stories are scary and funny.

What I've realized in the past couple of years is that I've actually learned from that site.

Learning what *not to do* is just as important as learning how to do something correctly. Usually learning what not to do takes years of experience (or one really bad client). Knowing what not to do is an incredibly valuable asset, as you can better serve your employer or client by steering them down the correct path.

This presentation will cover a few RPD and dashboard horror stories, both witnessed *and* created by this author and others. "

Frits Hoogland, VX Company : "Exadata Explained"

"This presentation is for performance analysts and database administrators who want to learn about Exadata and performance. What can it do for you?

This presentation focusses on the hardware specifications of Exadata, and discusses the fundamental storage (disks and flash)

In the last part of the presentation we take a query with a response time of 695 seconds and use different techniques (like smartscan and parallel query) on Exadata hardware, and try to make it faster."
