Recently, a new audio encoding/streaming software has hit the market that can be used on a home computer, requires no additional hardware and is compatible with any sound card. The software encodes a single stream at a single bit rate between 8&32kbps. In addition, the software features streaming capability of AAC/aacPlus encoded audio (It allows users to encode and stream audio at half the bit rate for a given sound quality, thereby reducing bandwidth usage). This software supplies streams compatible with the free Darwin Streaming Server running under BSD, Solaris, Linux, Windows and Macintosh. It supports the popular open file formats.
