Cloud Computing and the Role of IT Professionals in SMBs

Small- to Mid-Sized Business Survey Results, 2011

Zoomerang surveyed decision-makers in U.S. businesses with less than 1,000 employees to understand their familiarity with cloud computing and the role of IT professionals within those companies. A Zoomerang online survey was used to collect and analyze the data.

Objective – a deeper view of new technology adoption patterns and IT roles within small- to mid-sized businesses.

Results – In total, 525 decision makers (i.e. founders, managers, etc.) completed the survey providing insight into the state of their technology, IT support and its role within the company, as well as perceptions of cloud computing.

  • 30% of SMBs indicated that the role of their in-house IT staff has evolved in the past year to include day-to-day functions
