Question Survey to assess employee skills inventory

Has anyone created a survey to assess an employee's inventory of skills? I am specifically trying to build a skill inventory survey for our Accounting and Finance teams and am new to Zoomerang zPro. I'm also not all that familiar with specific accounting and finance skills to assess so any facimile of an inventory list and/or best practices for skill lists and surveys would be much appreciated. Did you end up doing this? I just ran across your post and that's a very interesting question. Are you looking to determine the proficiency of your entire teams, or of individual employees?

Smile Competency (skills) inventory

I am in the beginning stages of developing a competency survey for our division. This will be a multistage survey process as the first survey will be focusing on responses from managers/ supervisors and senior management to get an understanding of their desired competencies for each occupational group. The second stage of the survey will focus on employees and their career development plan. Keep in touch throughthis forum as to your progress. My next step is focusing on competenices that will be required by employees to get the job, let alone spending years in the position.

Default Copmpetency survey roll out

Roll out will be soon, government moves slow. This survey is currently directed at Managers to gain their understanding of the competencies required by their employee group. With 1000+ employees, 70+ occupations within five regions this will be a process that will require multiple surveys. The second survey is currently being developed and this will provide each individual manager the opportunity to identify competency training needs specific to the employees they direct. From all this new competencies will be developed to address training needs of new employees and a base of training needs for employees currently within each occupation.
