Zoomerang helps school administrators identify where to focus their resources
MILL VALLEY, CA – September 2, 2003 – Zoomerang is bringing the power of surveys to school administrators and educators across the country.
Zoomerang — the original online survey tool that allows users to easily create, deploy and analyze survey results in real time — is an important part of the University of Minnesota Student Technology Leadership Initiative (STLI). Inspired by the No Child Left Behind Act, which mandates that all school districts have long-range strategic technology plans, the STLI was created to ease the nationwide shortage of technology-savvy K-12 school administrators.
"We have a wealth of evidence that student achievement can be enhanced by the effective use of technology in schools," says Assistant Professor Scott McLeod, and co-director of the initiative. "What we don't have is a critical mass of school leaders who know how to make this happen."
One of the first STLI participants, Peter Mau, HS Staff Development Specialist in North St. Paul, Minn notes, “I will be using Zoomerang to do formative evaluations of our new teacher training program. The feedback from these surveys will allow us to change our content and process to better meet the learning needs of our new teachers.” He will also use Zoomerang to do pre- and post-assessments of training initiatives with about 500 teachers.
